Our Culinary beer house tour is the perfect experience for anyone who doesn’t just want to see Cologne, but taste it too: Kölsch, beer house culture, real local stories – plus a really great meal to finish.

What to expect

  • Duration: approx. 3 hours
  • Public tour: up to 7 people per booking (max. 15 guests total)
  • Private tour: from 8 people with a flexible start time
  • Language: German or English
  • Stops: 4 stops in Cologne’s Old Town
  • Included: Beer house snack (Mett snack or Halver Hahn) + “Cologne delicacy” or vegetarian alternative at Haxenhaus
  • Drinks: Kölsch/soft drink flat rate throughout the entire tour

The walking distances between stops are short (usually just a few minutes) – the tour remains relaxed, and the focus is on experience, stories, and enjoyment.

How the tour works

(If a beer house has a private event or is closed, for example, the route may change slightly, but we always have great alternatives)

1) Start at the Früh am Dom beer house

We start right in the heart of Cologne. You’ll learn the most important Brauhaus rules (including Köbes training 😉) and get the perfect introduction to Cologne’s food-and-drink culture: Mett bites or Halver Hahn – paired with a Kölsch/soft drink flat rate throughout the entire tour.

2) Continue through the Old Town – Beer House Culture & Stories

Afterward, we continue through one or two more beer houses. Along the way, you’ll get the mix our tours are known for: exciting background information, Cologne humor, history, and a genuine beer house feeling. This is where the special group dynamic emerges – strangers quickly become a group.

3) Highlight: Vaulted Cellar at Zims

A real “wow moment” of the tour: In the historic vaulted cellar, we delve even deeper into the city’s past – a perfect backdrop for powerful stories (and, of course, a great photo).

4) Finale at Haxenhaus – warm meal to conclude

To finish, the Haxenhaus offers the culinary highlight: the “Kölner Schmankerl” as a warm, hearty finale—exactly what goes with Kölsch and beer hall culture. For vegetarian guests, a vegetarian alternative is available—just select it when booking.

Who is this tour ideal for?

  • For everyone who wants Kölsch & Cologne cuisine in one experience
  • For Cologne visitors who want to experience the city authentically rather than just as a tourist
  • For couples, friends, and small groups
  • For company outings, birthdays, or private groups (from 8 people)
  • Also great as a special evening program

Important notes

  • Up to 7 people, you book spots on our public tour at set times.
  • From 8 people, a private tour with a flexible start time is booked automatically.
  • Please bring a bit of an appetite – the finale is a real meal, not a “snack.”
  • Vegetarian option available: Please indicate briefly in the notes field when booking.
  • The tour takes place in (almost) all weather conditions – appropriate clothing is recommended.
