My friend and I, two middle aged women, joined a mixed group, some in their 20's, some a little older for the brewhouse tour. I think it's safe to say, this is a popular tour which means it attracts a good crowd. Not every brew house can accommodate a large'ish group (some can) but they make the best of it for us. We get served promptly outside, it's a very efficient setup and the guides are known or recognised in every brewhouse they stop at, it's great fun. You pay a couple of euro's for each drink you have (all Kolsch, tasting different in different bars). This is the thing though. The guides. If you are lucky enough to get Felix, he is smashing! He is so knowledgeable and interesting. He appears interested in his subject matter, even though he must roll those lines out a couple of evenings a week. He is resourceful, diplomatic, helpful, considerate (has an eye on everyone, including drunken would be intruders) and very funny (dry humour)! The guide brought us together as a group, with his tales and 'funnies'. It turned out to be the most fun thing we did while in Cologne. I highly recommend this tour, thanks Felix. And actually, I highly recommend Cologne. I loved it...Have fun!
